This assignment during college was open and I felt really excited about exploring swimwear for the first time. I felt there was a large gap in the swimwear industry for styles that felt like they were designed by women for women. The top two points I aimed to nail during this making process was the fit and function.
In the first sample of the bikini, I found the fabric was a bit sheer and the dark serger threads were showing through. Moving forward with my second iteration, I used light colored thread, made the back strap taller for more support. I also added elastic in the front leg seams to prevent the bottom from sliding around during wear.
