the orange puffer

I created an extra puffy, cloud like vest, enhancing the look with texture. Adding a three dimensional element with the lettering. The shell fabric was originally white zebra jacquard that I fabric dyed orange with RIT dye. The lining is a soft, white, 4-way stretch knit and the fit is oversized.

My process involved draping muslin on a male dress form and create a pattern. After I dyed the fabric, I began cutting, sewing filling with poly-fil. I used muslin as a mid lining to contain the poly-fil so the inside lining could be seamless.

I was inspired by the artist Gunna’s song called Private Island, specifically the lyrics “thank god for these better days”.
